Each of our artists is fully certified with a Canadian Blood Borne Pathogens certificate. This insures proper needle safety and hygiene around bodily fluids to eliminate the chance of transmitting communicable diseases.

Our shop and team is fully inspected, approved and commended by the Fraser Health Authority. In addition to required approval, our previous location was actually used as a teaching location for Health Inspection students. As a premier example of tattoo shop hygiene, we were happy to share our expertise with students so that the health authorities and tattoo artists can build a mutually beneficial relationship of working together as a valuable resource.

Babydoll Tattoos is not only fully licensed with the city of Burnaby and the Fraser Health Authority, but possesses full insurance for all of our services - including the tattooing of minors with parental consent (see below for more information).

Consent is KEY! In all avenues of life. Our consent form is thorough and meant to be carefully read and signed prior to your tattoo process. Many of the points made on the consent form are in relation to the before, during and aftermath of the tattoo process and where Artist/client responsibilities lie.

YIKES! This is a tricky one! We do tattoo minors with parental consent and we are licensed, and insured to do so. However, it must be noted that our province does not actually legally have an age specification on how old a child must be to receive a tattoo. Health, safety and responsibility are the moral factors involved.

We ask, as of our own standards of practice, that your child be 16 or older before getting a tattoo. Please note as well, that we will analyze the design and placement of the tattoo as to best suit the client’s young age. We have no hard and fast rules as all situations are different and there can be extenuating circumstances, but don’t expect us, as heavily tattooed people navigating this world, to tattoo a large, or highly visible tattoo on your child. There is lots of time!

That being said, there are many reasons to support your child wanting a tattoo and we like to focus on all persons feeling comfortable and expressive with their bodies and we encourage parents/guardians to consider a safe environment over that best friends’ s boyfriend’s couch and his Amazon tattoo machine…

PLEASE bring ID for both parent/guardian and child. Preferably a birth certificate or passport, or other item only a legal guardian would have possession of.
